Ablation balloon catheter that allows blood flow |
abstract |
An ablation balloon catheter is provided. A balloon catheter includes a shaft, a balloon including an expandable membrane, one or more ablation elements, and one or more passageways through the expandable membrane. The shaft is configured for insertion into the organ of the patient 28. A balloon is attached to the distal end of the shaft and one or more ablation elements are placed over the expandable membrane and configured for tissue ablation. The one or more passageways through the expandable membrane are configured to allow blood to flow between the distal and proximal ends of the balloon while the balloon is in the expanded configuration.
