A method of forming electrodes, and electrodes formed according to the process, as well as incorporating the electrodes, which reduce processing time and manufacturing costs without the need for costly oven drying or solvent treatment. Batteries, or double layer capacitors, such as lithium ion batteries. An electron beam (EB) or actinic radiation is used to cure the electrode binder. To mix certain actinic or EB curable polymer precursors with solid particles of the electrode to form an aqueous mixture, which mixture is applied to the electrode current collector 2 and then to cure the polymer. A method of forming an electrode, wherein actinic rays 4 or EB rays 8 are applied to the current collector, thereby binding the electrode binder to the current collector. Also, electrodes formed according to the process, as well as batteries that can incorporate the electrodes, or double layer capacitors, such as lithium ion batteries. [Selection diagram] Figure 1 |
