PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reliable tool designed for high-resolution real-time monitoring and quantification of magnetic information and volumetric mass density of cells. A method for separating a heterogeneous population of cells comprises placing microcapillary channels containing the heterogeneous population of cells in a magnetic reaction medium in a disclosed flotation system, and magnetic forces and corrections on individual cells. Performed by separating cells by balancing gravity. Also disclosed are microscopes in which the microcapillary channels are arranged, and levitation systems having a pair of magnets between which the microcapillary channels are arranged. In addition, methods of monitoring cellular processes in real time using a levitation system are disclosed. [Selection diagram] Fig. 3 |
