abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing carbonaceous coated graphite particles for a negative electrode of a lithium ion secondary battery, which can obtain a high yield and excellent battery characteristics. SOLUTION: Spherical and/or ellipsoidal graphite particles are mixed with a first carbonaceous precursor, and at least a part of the surface of the graphite particles is coated with the first carbonaceous precursor. The coating step 1, the pressurizing step of pressurizing the graphite particles obtained in the mixing/covering step, the graphite particles obtained in the pressurizing step and the second carbonaceous precursor are mixed, and The mixing/coating step 2 of coating at least a part of the surface of the graphite particles with the second carbonaceous precursor, and the graphite particles obtained in the mixing/coating step 2 are fired to give the first carbonaceous material.
