Method for quantifying total body skeletal muscle mass |
abstract |
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reliable and easy-to-execute noninvasive method for measuring total body skeletal muscle mass. SOLUTION: (a) a step of orally administering 10 to 200 mg of D3-creatine, a salt thereof, or a hydrate thereof to a subject; and (b) a step of allowing at least 12 hours after the administration of D3-creatine. And (c) obtaining a biological sample from the subject, (d) quantifying the creatinine concentration and D3-creatinine concentration in the biological sample, and (e) for calculating the total body skeletal muscle mass of the subject. And using the quantified creatinine concentration and the D3 creatinine concentration. [Selection diagram] Figure 1 |
