abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monolithic ceramic electronic component in which a side margin portion is made dense and grain growth of ceramic particles in an inner layer portion can be suppressed. A multilayer ceramic electronic component (1) includes a multilayer body (10) and an external electrode (52) provided on an end surface thereof, and first and second internal electrode layers (21, 22) face each other with a dielectric ceramic layer (20) in between. The inner layer portion 30 and the outer layer portions 31 and 32 disposed so as to sandwich the inner layer portion in the stacking direction T, and the side margin portion disposed so as to sandwich the inner layer portion and the outer layer portion in the width direction W. 41 and 42 are provided. The side margin portion is composed of a plurality of ceramic layers stacked in the width direction, and the inner layers 41a and 42a arranged on the innermost side and the content of the sintering aid element arranged on the outermost side are lower than those of the inner layer. The outer layers 41b and 42b are large in amount, and the buffer layers 41c and 42c arranged between the inner layer and the outer layer and having a content of the sintering aid element smaller than that of the outer layers are included.
