Methods and devices for treating posterior segment disorders |
abstract |
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method, a device and a drug formulation for treating macular edema caused by posterior ocular disorder such as uveitis and retinal vein occlusion (RVO). A method of treating uveitis-related macular edema in a human subject in need of treatment for uveitis-related macular edema, comprising: administering an effective amount of a first drug in a dosing session. Non-surgically administering to the suprachoroidal space (SCS) of the eye of a human subject in need of treatment of the uveitis-related macular edema. , The drug formulation exits the insertion site and is substantially localized to the posterior segment of the eye. The first drug is preferably an anti-inflammatory drug such as triamcinolone acetonide, and a VEGF antagonist such as aflibercept may be further administered as the second drug.
