abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for manipulating magnetic particles, capable of accurately maintaining a distance between magnetic particles in a container and a magnetic field applying part without bringing the magnetic field applying part into contact with the outer peripheral surface of the container. SOLUTION: A magnet 130 approaches the container 20 held by a container holding portion from the outside and moves relative to the container 20 to change a magnetic field to move magnetic particles in the container 20. The guide 150 keeps the distance between the container 20 and the magnet 130 constant when the magnet 130 moves relative to the container 20. Accordingly, the distance between the magnetic particles in the container 20 and the magnet 130 can be accurately maintained without bringing the magnet 130 into contact with the outer peripheral surface of the container 20.
