An ink jet recording method capable of producing a glossy recording material on a recording medium having a recording surface having irregularities. A water-based white ink containing a white color material is ejected from an inkjet head to a recording medium having a white recording surface having an L * value of 75 or more and a glossiness of 30 or less, and is attached to the recording medium. An ink attaching step and a drying step of drying the recording medium 10 to which the aqueous white ink has been adhered are provided, and the glossiness ratio of the dried aqueous white ink adhering portion to the white recording surface is at least twice.
