abstract A composition and article comprising a host polymer and a chromophore, and a method for producing the same. In an exemplary embodiment, an article includes a host polymer having a host polymer refractive index. The article also includes a chromophore having a chromophore refractive index greater than the host polymer refractive index. The chromophore refractive index changes with changes in the electric field, and the chromophore is dissolved in the host polymer.
