abstract |
An object of the present invention is to provide a composition, a method for modifying the surface of a substrate, and a polymer, which can easily modify the surface of a metal substrate with high selectivity and high density. A composition used for surface modification of a metal substrate, comprising a polymer having a first structural unit containing an aromatic ring and a second structural unit containing an ethylenic double bond, a thermal acid generator and a solvent Wherein the polymer has a functional group that binds to a metal atom in the metal substrate. The polymer preferably has a group containing the functional group at a terminal of a main chain or a terminal of a side chain.
