abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an oligomer of a carboxyalkylamino group-containing compound and a cyclic polyarylene sulfide with high purity from a reaction mixture obtained in a process for producing a polyarylene sulfide resin. SOLUTION: The solvent is removed from a reaction mixture obtained by reacting a dihalo aromatic compound with an alkali metal sulfide or an alkali metal hydrosulfide and an alkali metal hydroxide in an organic polar solvent. A reaction mixture containing an oligoarylene sulfide and a compound containing a carboxyalkylamino group at a temperature higher than 100 ° C. and at a pH of 6 or more, and then washing with an organic polar solvent, and solid-liquid separation of the oligoarylene sulfide with an organic polar solvent.
