In one aspect, described herein are intra-intron splicing modifier recognition elements (iREMS) that can be recognized by the compounds provided herein. In another aspect, described herein is a method of modulating the amount of a gene product, wherein a precursor RNA transcript transcribed from the gene contains an intron REMS. Here, the method utilizes the compounds described herein. More specifically, described herein is a method for regulating the amount of RNA transcript or protein product encoded by a gene, wherein the precursor RNA transcript transcribed from the gene is within an intron. A method comprising REMS, wherein the method comprises utilizing a compound described herein. In another aspect, provided herein are artificial gene constructs that contain an intron REMS and the use of these artificial gene constructs to regulate protein production. In another aspect, provided herein are methods for modifying an endogenous gene to include an intron REMS, and for modulating a protein produced from such a modified endogenous gene. Use of the compounds described herein. [Selection] Figure 1 |
