Multimode surgical gas delivery system configured to maintain stable body cavity pressure when suction is used in a body cavity |
abstract |
Disclosed is a system for delivering insufflation gas to a patient's body cavity during a surgical procedure, wherein the system delivers the insufflation gas flow to the patient's body cavity through a flow path in communication with a pneumatically sealed trocar. A pneumothorax device, a flow meter for measuring the amount of gas removed from the body cavity by the use of a suction device, and when a cavity suction device is used to receive flow measurements from the flow meter and when suctioning A controller operatively connected to the flow meter to determine the amount of insufflation gas that needs to be delivered to the body cavity by the pneumoperitoneum device to make up for the gas removed from the body cavity by the device.
