Method of producing a heat producing catalyst for hydrocarbon cracking. The method comprises providing at least one mordenite framework inverted (MFI) zeolite with a Si / Al molar ratio of 15 or more, and providing at least one metal oxide precursor. Furthermore, the at least one metal oxide precursor is dispersed within the microstructure of the MFI zeolite catalyst. The method further comprises calcining the thermally generated material with at least one metal oxide precursor dispersed in the microstructure of the MFI zeolite catalyst to create at least one metal oxide in the system. The thermogenic catalyst comprises at least one MFI zeolite and at least one metal oxide in a ratio of 50:50 to 95: 5. Furthermore, a related method is provided for using a heat producing catalyst in a hydrocarbon cracking process. |
