abstract |
A method of increasing the polymerization reaction rate of a base monomer composition having a slow free radical polymerization reaction rate. The method comprises combining the base monomer composition with an effective amount of nanogel to produce a polymerization reaction rate higher than that of the base monomer composition when subjected to the same free radical polymerization reaction performed under the same conditions. Forming a monomer-nanogel mixture having a velocity. The base monomer composition comprises one or more slowly reacting monomers, wherein the monomers have a slow free radical polymerization rate and are double bonds which are converted within the first 10 minutes of the reaction. Is less than 25%. The nanogel is soluble in the base monomer composition. The nanogel is derived from a nanogel-forming monomer mixture comprising at least one monovinyl monomer, at least one divinyl monomer, a chain transfer agent and an initiator. |
