Immunity-based treatment of KRAS variant cancer patients |
abstract |
The present invention is directed to methods of administering immunotherapy to cancer patients in combination with other conventional cancer treatments, said administration relying on the presence of the KRAS variant. The invention further provides a diagnostic method for determining the increased likelihood that a cancer patient responds to immunotherapy based on the presence of a KRAS variant. The present invention relates to the discovery that a subject having a KRAS variant is altering the immune system. Specifically, as described herein, KRAS variant subjects have been shown to have a weakened immune system utilized for successful treatment of cancer. As described herein, such an immune system can be enhanced or stimulated by administration of a suitable immunomodulator. |
