abstract | Sustainable system for removing and concentrating per and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from water. The system includes an anion exchange vessel having therein a selected anion exchange resin configured to remove PFAS from water. A line connected to the vessel introduces a stream of PFAS-contaminated water such that the PFAS is bound to the selected anion exchange resin and thereby removed from the water. The regenerant solution line is connected to the anion exchange vessel, and the optimized regenerant solution is introduced into the anion exchange vessel to regenerate the anion exchange resin by removing the PFAS from the anion exchange resin, and the optimum PFAS removed Producing a spent regenerant solution consisting of the formulated regenerant solution. A separation and recovery subsystem recovers the optimized regenerant solution for reuse, and separates and concentrates the removed PFAS. |
