Surface treated polymer particles that are dispersible in water or aqueous solution without the aid of a surfactant. In order to increase the surface energy and to impart hydrophilicity to the surface of the particle, surface treatment of the hydrophobic polymer particle is performed to disperse the polymer particle in water or an aqueous solution. There is no need. Therefore, a surfactant-free slurry can be formed from the surface treated particles for the production of fiber reinforced thermoplastic composite structures.
