Provided herein are methods and compositions for making targeted changes to DNA sequences. In various aspects and embodiments, methods and compositions for modifying DNA sequences in cells (such as plants, bacteria, yeast, fungi, algae, or mammalian cells) are provided. In some aspects and embodiments, modification of DNA comprises combining a gene repair oligonucleotide with an approach that increases the availability of components of a target cell gene repair mechanism, such as a DNA cutter.
