abstract An orthodontic bracket having a bracket pad (2) and a bracket body (1) extending from the bracket pad. The bracket has a slot (4) for receiving an orthodontic archwire. The slot has a proximal slot side (4a), a distal side (4b), and a slot bottom (4c). The bracket has at least one archwire support structure (5a, 5b) forming a support surface (6a, 6b) in the plane of the slot bottom. The support surface is arranged at a distance from the bottom surface of the slot. The archwire support structure forms a flat portion and projects in a dimension substantially parallel to the slot crossing axis. The present invention maximizes tilt control in orthodontic treatment.
