titleOfInvention Methods and ophthalmic elements for stimulating non-visual physiological effects
abstract The calculated coefficients can quantify the efficiency with which the optical filter stimulates non-visual physiological effects that react to light entering the subject's eyes. This efficiency factor is based on the spectral transmittance of the filter in the visible range of wavelengths, the spectral sensitivity profile of non-visual physiological effects, and the spectral distribution of light entering the subject's eye when the filter is not used. Such efficiency factors are particularly beneficial for ophthalmic elements designed to stimulate non-visual physiological effects based on melanopsin light absorption.
