abstract Compositions comprising surfactant-free nanoparticles (SFNP) in a dispersed or aggregated form different from the media are provided. This composition has (a) the dielectric constant value (DE value) of the medium equal to or greater than the intrinsic dielectric constant value (IDE) of SFNP and less than about 1.5 times the IDE of SFNP. Primary form; (b) SFNP in a reaction-limited aggregation form where the DE value of the medium is significantly greater than that of the surfactant-free nanoparticles; (c) Diffusion where the DE value of the medium is less than that of the surfactant-free nanoparticles SFNP in a rate-limited aggregation form; and (d) an interface in a redispersible aggregation form in which surfactant-free nanoparticles are aggregated in a diffusion-controlled manner in a medium having a DE value less than the IDE of the surfactant-free nanoparticles.
