abstract | Provided is a method for producing a water-based ink for inkjet, in which propagation of microorganisms is effectively suppressed even when stored for a long period of time, and physical properties are stably maintained. A method for producing a water-based ink for inkjet is provided. A step of mixing a pigment and a surfactant to obtain a mixture; and a step of mixing the obtained mixture and other ink components. A self-dispersible pigment in which a functional group selected from the group consisting of a functional group and (ii) a group in which another atomic group and an anionic group are bonded, and the density of the functional group is 0.10 μmol. / M 2 or more and 0.48 μmol / m 2 or less, and the surfactant is an amino acid type surfactant having a structure in which a nitrogen atom which can be a cation has a secondary amine or tertiary amine structure.
