abstract | Kinds of thermal transfer sheets are identified by a thermal transfer printing apparatus without using an IC tag. In a thermal transfer sheet, a transfer layer to be transferred to a transfer target is formed on one surface of a base film. In this thermal transfer sheet, the type of the thermal transfer sheet is identified between the other surface side of the base film in the region where the transfer layer is formed or between one side of the base film and the transfer layer. An identification mark is provided. When the transfer layer is transferred to the transfer target, the identification mark remains on the thermal transfer sheet without being transferred.
