abstract Disclosed is a novel antiviral agent which exhibits high antiviral activity against viruses having an envelope or not, and which exhibits antiviral activity in a solid state. An antiviral agent contains MoO 3 as an active ingredient. The antiviral agent may further contain a copper compound or may be in a form supported on a photocatalytic carrier. In this case, the photocatalytic carrier is preferably ZnO or TiO 2 . [Effects] The antiviral agent exhibits high antiviral activity against viruses having and without enveloped viruses, and also exhibits antiviral activity in a solid state. [Selection] Figure 1
