abstract The present invention provides a gas detection method and a gas detection apparatus capable of obtaining a total concentration of paraffinic hydrocarbon components in a test gas and a lower explosion limit concentration of the test gas with a certain accuracy. A gas mixture containing a paraffinic hydrocarbon component is used as a test gas, and at least two or more characteristic values of the test gas are measured. Based on the at least two or more characteristic values of the test gas, the target gas is measured.
