abstract Disclosed is an agent that contains an active ingredient derived from a new natural product and is useful for the prevention and improvement of hyperuricemia and gout. A blood uric acid level-reducing agent containing a Brassica plant or an extract of Brassica plant as an active ingredient is provided. There is also provided a xanthine oxidase inhibitor containing a Brassica plant or a Brassica plant extract as an active ingredient. An example of the Brassica plant is kale. The agent of the present invention is preferably administered orally and is preferably a food composition.
