abstract An anode for a microbial fuel cell suitable for wastewater treatment using a low crystalline carbon molded body having high water absorption and material strength and excellent durability is provided. SOLUTION: A carbon electrode for an anode of a microbial fuel cell for treating waste water, wherein the carbon electrode has at least a surface layer portion of carbon on a 002 plane of a graphite hexagonal mesh layer measured by an X-ray diffraction method. A porous low crystalline carbon molded body having an average lattice spacing d002 of 0.340 nm or more and a crystallite size Lc (002) of less than 10 nm, wherein the bending strength of the carbon molded body is 10 MPa or more. A carbon electrode for an anode, and a microbial fuel cell using the anode electrode. [Selection figure] None
