abstract | An image portion formed by applying ink to a recording medium to which a processing liquid has been applied may be reduced in strength by a cationic substance contained in the processing liquid, thereby cutting the image portion. When doing this, the image part may be lost. That is, the present invention provides a recording method that suppresses image portion defects that occur when an image portion is cut while maintaining excellent image density and beading properties when a processing liquid is used. A processing liquid applying step for applying a processing liquid containing a cationic substance to a recording medium, and an image portion by applying ink containing a coloring material to the area of the recording medium to which the processing liquid has been applied. The image forming step for forming the image portion and the cutting step for cutting the region where the image portion of the recording medium 203 is formed have a Martens hardness of 45 N / mm 2 or more and 200 N / mm 2 or less.
