titleOfInvention | Apparatus and method for reducing intraocular pressure |
abstract | An apparatus for draining aqueous humor from an eye to reduce intraocular pressure is provided. The discharge device includes a tube defining a path for fluid flow between an inlet end and an outlet end. The outlet part 34 contacts the conjunctival layer outside the eyeball. The outlet part includes a housing having an aperture that is in fluid communication with the outlet end of the tube and allows for the discharge of aqueous humor on the outer eye surface. A resistance portion is disposed on the housing to provide resistance to the flow of aqueous humor. A pair of tabs protrude outwardly and are adapted to be placed under the conjunctiva to secure the drainage device relative to the eyeball. [Selection] Figure 1 |
