abstract To analyze the results of a ligand-receptor assay that avoids the traditional washing step. A combination comprising reagents, wherein a receptor bound to a solid support, a sample suspected of containing a ligand, and a conjugate comprising a label form a complex, wherein the label is in the sample. It is present at a concentration that correlates to the amount of ligand present. In order to identify only binding events, not components of the reaction, digital images of the support precipitated / immobilized with two different types of irradiation are provided and the images are subtracted digitally. The quantitative value of the image intensity obtained by this method is compared with a calibration curve to obtain an accurate analyte concentration. [Selection figure] None
