Methods and compositions for the amplification of nucleic acids and for the production of concatamers are provided. The amplification methods provided herein can be performed under isothermal conditions. The methods and compositions can include reagents such as nucleic acid polymerases and primers. In some embodiments, provided herein is a method for generating a concatamer comprising two or more copies of a double stranded nucleic acid template.
