abstract | An object of the present invention is to provide a method for producing an external additive for toner having a high degree of crystallinity and a sharp particle size distribution. A method for producing an external additive for a toner comprising fine particles containing a crystalline material and a coating layer containing an organosilicon condensate on the surface of the fine particles, a) an acid value of 5.0 mgKOH / a step of preparing a crystalline material solution 1 by dissolving a crystalline material of g to 30.0 mgKOH / g in an organic solvent, and b) pKa of the crystalline material solution 1 is 7.0 or more. A step of adding a neutralizing agent to prepare the crystalline material solution 2, c) a step of adding an aqueous medium to the crystalline material solution 2, and preparing a dispersion A by phase inversion emulsification; and d) A step of forming a coating layer containing the organosilicon condensate on the surface of the fine particles by mixing the organosilicon compound with the dispersion A and causing the hydrolysis reaction and the condensation reaction to occur in the organosilicon compound.
