abstract |
A therapeutic agent delivery system using a splittable and removable delivery sheath. A tubular sheath that is radially expandable and surrounds at least a portion of an expandable medical device, the tubular sheath comprising a first sheath segment and a second sheath segment. An actuating line including a first portion attached to the first sheath segment and a second portion attached to the second sheath segment. The first portion has a shorter length than the second portion. By imposing tension on one of the first and second portions of the actuation line, the first sheath segment can be split from the second sheath segment, and the second sheath segment is expanded. The first sheath segment is peeled away from the envelopment of the part of the expandable medical device before being peeled off the envelopment of the part of the possible medical device.
