The present invention provides an electrophotographic photosensitive member that suppresses the occurrence of ground contamination that occurs when images are repeatedly formed. SOLUTION: The undercoat layer 1 provided on a conductive substrate 4 contains a polyurethane resin, metal oxide particles, a silane coupling agent, and a compound represented by the general formula (ID), and is a silane coupling. It is an electrophotographic photosensitive member having an undercoat layer in which the content of the agent is 5 parts by mass or more and 15 parts by mass or less with respect to 1 part by mass of the compound represented by the general formula (ID). In General Formula (ID), R 1 to R 8 each independently represent a hydrogen atom, a nitro group, a cyano group, a halogen atom, a hydroxyl group, a saturated or unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon group, or the like.
