abstract | The present invention provides a novel method for producing carboxymethylated cellulose which can economically obtain a highly transparent cellulose nanofiber dispersion. SOLUTION: In carboxymethylation of cellulose, mercerization is performed under a water-based solvent, and then carboxymethylation is performed under a mixed solvent of water and an organic solvent.
