abstract | An object of the present invention is to widen the range of material selection of a positive electrode binder. A nickel-metal hydride battery includes at least a positive electrode 10, a negative electrode 20, a separator 30, and an alkaline electrolyte. The positive electrode 10 includes at least a positive electrode current collector 11 and a positive electrode mixture 12. The positive electrode mixture 12 contains at least a positive electrode active material and a positive electrode binder. The negative electrode 20 at least includes a negative electrode current collector 21 and a negative electrode mixture 22. The negative electrode mixture 22 contains at least a negative electrode active material and a negative electrode binder. The separator 30 is disposed between the positive electrode mixture 12 and the negative electrode mixture 22. The positive electrode binder is a polymer material which is decomposed by the potential of the positive electrode in the alkaline electrolyte to generate oxygen.
