An object of the present invention is to solve the problems relating to the layout, operation and ergonomic design of a conventional AI. A syringe, such as a needle-type automatic syringe, having a flexible flange disposed at the injection end of the syringe to pull or pinch the skin at the injection site. The flexible flange may be removably attached to the syringe or may be integrated with the syringe at the time of manufacture. In addition, a syringe having a palm button disposed on the actuating end of the syringe to actuate the injection cycle of the syringe. The palm button may be removably attached to the syringe or may be integrated with the syringe at the time of manufacture. Furthermore, a holding device for single-handed operation of a syringe, comprising a sleeve and at least one hand rest coupled to the sleeve. The sleeve and handrest allow for ergonomic holding and manipulation of the syringe. Additionally, an auto-injector needle shield having an enlarged rounded lip for contacting the skin at the injection site. [Selected figure] Figure 1A |
