The present invention provides a fiber that produces antimicrobial activity. Kind Code: A1 Fibers that produce antimicrobial activity are described. The fiber comprises an enzyme capable of converting a substrate to release hydrogen peroxide, and a crude natural substance comprising a substrate for the enzyme, the enzyme releasing the substrate to release hydrogen peroxide. It is added to any enzyme activity that may be present in the convertible natural material. This enzyme converts the substrate in the presence of sufficient free water to release hydrogen peroxide which is effective against a wide range of microorganisms. Also described are wound dressings and compositions comprising the fibers, as well as the use of fibers, wound dressings and compositions, in particular for wound healing. 【Selection chart】 None |
