abstract | The present invention provides a method for producing a lipid, which improves the productivity of a medium-chain fatty acid or a lipid comprising the same. SOLUTION: A transformant into which a gene encoding at least one protein selected from the group consisting of the following proteins (A) to (C) has been introduced is cultured to produce a fatty acid or a lipid consisting thereof: Method of producing lipid. (A) A protein consisting of an amino acid sequence having at least one amino acid substitution in a specific amino acid sequence, and having acyl-ACP thioesterase activity. (B) A protein consisting of an amino acid sequence having at least one amino acid substitution in an amino acid sequence having 85% or more identity with a specific amino acid sequence, and having acyl-ACP thioesterase activity.
