abstract The present invention provides an insect flight behavior suppressing device which does not disturb the view of a person, does not cause a problem of an odor or a drug affecting the human body, and can effectively repel insects. An insect repellent apparatus includes a light source and a control unit. The light source 2 emits light having a wavelength component of 780 nm or more and 1350 nm or less. The control unit 3 controls the light source 2. The control unit 3 blinks the light source 2 at a blink cycle of 50 Hz or more and 400 Hz or less. And the emitted illumination intensity of the light source 2 is a numerical value 5.4 times or more compared with the average illumination intensity in the irradiation surface facing the light source 2.
