abstract An apparatus and method capable of directly monitoring the occurrence of crevice corrosion of a pump operating in water. A pump is provided with a crevice corrosion detector 20 including a crevice corrosion detection electrode 21 and a potentiometer 22. The crevice corrosion detection electrode 21 is not in contact with the pump body and is conductive when the pump is in operation. Is provided at a position to be immersed in the liquid having a gap, and detects corrosion of a gap between mating surfaces or contact surfaces of the pump components, and the potentiometer 22 electrically detects the gap corrosion detection electrode 21 and the pump body.
