Markers for identification of calorie restriction and calorie restriction mimetics |
abstract |
A caloric restriction (CR) marker is provided. A caloric restriction (CR) marker exposes an animal to a CR condition and selects one or more genes that are differentially expressed in response to the CR condition in a plurality of subject groups. Can be identified in the selected tissue. Candidate compounds may mimic the effects of CR when administered to animals by comparing tissue levels of gene expression products in animals treated with candidate compounds to the levels of animals subjected to CR Can be screened for ability.
