A method of treating alveolar bone loss associated with administration of a sclerostin inhibitor to a subject in need thereof. A method for treating alveolar bone loss in a subject, wherein the effective amount of anti-sclerostin antibody is about 5 mg to about 1 per week effective to reduce the distance between the cement enamel border and the alveolar bone crest.
