A method for visualizing cells using a dye that is taken up by cells and allows subsequent visualization by a confocal fluorescent microendoscope or other photodetector. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] Substantially detectable prior to cell uptake or only a small amount of fluorescence, but after cell uptake can be detected using a confocal endoscope used to image cells in vivo Dye constructs, and their use, exhibiting a significant increase in fluorescence. The dye construct is a multi-branched molecule having a surface group attached to a fluorescent dye, for example, a multi-branched molecule comprising a peptide sequence. [Selection figure] None |
