abstract | The present invention provides a chromium-free insulating coating composition that does not contain toxic hexavalent chromium and has excellent characteristics, a preparation method thereof, and a grain-oriented silicon steel sheet formed thereby. A chromium-free insulating coating composition comprises 100 parts by weight phosphate solution, 1 to 5 parts by weight molybdate, 50 to 150 parts by weight silica sol, 3 to 13 parts by weight selenium dioxide, 10 parts by weight of metal oxide and / or metal hydroxide, 5 to 15 parts by weight of organic acid, 1 to 6 parts by weight of boric acid and 100 to 300 parts by weight of water. The composition is prepared by adding phosphate solution, boric acid and water, sequentially adding selenium dioxide and organic acid, adding metal oxide and / or metal hydroxide and molybdate to pH. 1 to 5 and adding a silica sol.
