Fluid communication features for ear canal dilators |
abstract |
A system for dilating a patient's ear canal (ET) includes a guide member and a dilatation catheter. The guide member includes a bent distal portion configured to provide access to an opening in the ET. The dilatation catheter is slidable relative to the guide member. The dilatation catheter includes a shaft, an expandable element, and an actuator. The expandable element is disposed on the distal portion of the shaft. The actuator includes a grip portion and an actuating member. The expandable element is configured to transition to an expanded configuration in response to actuation of the actuation member. The gripping portion and the actuating member are gripped with one hand of the operator, the operator advances the dilatation catheter relative to the guide member, and transitions the expandable element between an expanded configuration and a non-expanded configuration with one hand It is configured to make it possible. |
