The present invention relates to a polyarylene sulfide exhibiting improved compatibility with other polymer materials and fillers, and a method for producing the same. In such a polyarylene sulfide, at least a part of the terminal group (End Group) of the polyarylene sulfide main chain is a hydroxy group (—OH), and an iodine and a free iodine bonded to the polyarylene sulfide main chain are separated. And the iodine and free iodine content bound to the main chain is 10 to 10,000 ppmw. |
