titleOfInvention Solid reduction in flow battery
abstract During operation of a flow battery and associated electrochemical system, solids may form in one or more electrolytes. This solid can build up over time and compromise the integrity of the flow path and various other flow battery components. A flow battery configured to reduce internal solids may include an autonomous solid state separator, such as a lamellar clarifier. This flow battery circulates a first half battery containing a first electrolyte, a second half battery containing a second electrolyte, and the first electrolyte passing through the first half battery. The first flow loop configured as described above, the second flow loop configured to circulate the second electrolyte through the second half cell, and the first half cell and the second half cell At least one lamellar clarifier in fluid communication with at least one of the two. In some cases, hydrocyclones can be used in place of lamellar clarifiers. [Selection] Figure 1
